Obama to visit Australia in March

AAP US President Barack Obama will make what will be an emotional trip with his family to his childhood home of Indonesia in March, and will also visit Australia, the White House announced. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has welcomed Obama's trip. "President Obama will be a most welcome guest in Australia on his first official visit," a statement from Rudd's office said on Tuesday (AEST). Advertisement: Story continues below "Australia's relationship with the United States of America is our most important international partnership. "We are allies, we are trading partners, and we cooperate on the international challenges confronting all nations," the statement said. Obama, who was known as "Little Barry" when he lived in Jakarta with his mother in the 1960s, said last year in Singapore that he was looking forward to visiting his old haunts in Indonesia. He was invited to make the trip by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and both sides have said they plan to use Obama's childhood ties to the country to further tighten a crucial pan-Pacific relationship. "This trip is an important part of the president's continuing effort to broaden and strengthen the partnerships that are necessary to advance our security and prosperity," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. Gibbs said that Obama would inaugurate the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership during the visit, which is intended to further deepen ties between the two countries. It is possible he will introduce his wife Michelle and their daughters Malia and Sasha to neighbourhoods he knew as a boy and also to some Rosetta Stone Japanese old school friends. Obama's visit will be greeted with massive expectations in Indonesia, and a comprehensive security operation in the world's most populous Muslim nation. Washington took steps last year to dampen speculation and reports in Indonesia that Obama would visit the country during his first year in office, but made a promise he would make the trip this year. Obama spent part of his childhood in Indonesia after his divorced mother married an Indonesian and attended a primary school in Jakarta between 1967 and 1971. The childhood connection and his knowledge of a few words of the Indonesian language have made him hugely popular in the country of 234 million people, 90 per cent of whom are Muslim. Gibbs said that Obama looked forward to discussing issues including green energy, climate change, economic recovery and non-proliferation with Rudd. En route to Asia, Obama will meet US troops stationed in Guam, Gibbs said. Rudd and Obama have met a number of times since Obama became president last year, including in the United States, and have forged a close, and mutually admiring diplomatic relationship, especially on climate change. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Australia and the United States. "Our formal military alliance, the ANZUS Treaty, has been in force for nearly 60 years," Rudd's office said. "The president's visit will underline the strength and breadth of the relationship." Mr Rudd said the visit was important for the two countries' bilateral relationship. He said the recovery of the US economy would affect working Australian families. "What we'll be spending our time doing is looking at the future of our security relationship, the challenges of terrorism, but also, this is the biggest economy in the world," Mr Rudd told the Nine Network on Tuesday. "The recovery of this US economy affects every working family," he said.

NKorea to strike back if South holds drill

North Korea's military threatened on Friday to strike back if the South goes ahead with an imminent live-fire drill on a border island which the communist state shelled last month. The North "will deal the second and third unpredictable self-defensive blow" to protect its territorial waters if the South holds the one-day drill scheduled between Saturday and Tuesday, it said. "It will be deadlier than what was made on November 23 in terms of the powerfulness and sphere of the strike," according to the military statement carried by the English-language service of the North's official news agency. Advertisement: Story continues below The bombardment of Yeonpyeong island last month killed two marines and two civilians, injured 18 people and damaged dozens of homes. The latest warning sharply raised the stakes in the regional crisis, amid diplomatic moves to ease tensions. The news agency said the military's message was delivered earlier on Friday to the South. The South, outraged at the first shelling of civilian areas since the 1950-53 war, has fortified Yeonpyeong with more troops and artillery and vowed to use air power against any future attack. Its military has said its artillery will be aimed away from the North as usual during the upcoming drill, but it will respond strongly if provoked. Members of the US-led United Nations Command are scheduled to observe the drill and about 20 American soldiers will play a supporting role. But a top US general on Thursday voiced concern over a possible "chain reaction". General James Cartwright, vice chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the drill was being held on a "well-established and well-used" range in a transparent way, but could draw a North Korean reaction. "What we worry about obviously is ... if North Korea were to react to that in a negative way and fire back at those firing positions on the islands, that would start potentially a chain reaction," Cartwright told reporters. "What you don't want to have happen outof that is for ... us to lose control of the escalation. Rosetta Stone Spanish Latin " Military spokesmen in Seoul had no immediate comment on whether the drill would go ahead despite the latest warning. The South's defence ministry, in a statement, suggested it would be held. "Our military's stance is that we do not need to react to every single threat and unreasonable statement," the statement said. The ministry said it had given a warning to shipping about the drill and made its plans for the exercise public. Yeonpyeong is just south of the Yellow Sea border drawn by UN forces after the war, which the North refuses to recognise. It claims the seas around the island as its own maritime territory. A firing drill into the Yellow Sea by South Korean marines based on the island on November 23 was answered by the North's deadly bombardment. "The waters off Yeonpyoong island, the target of their shelling, are the inviolable territorial waters of the DPRK (North Korea)," the North's statement said. In an earlier message, Pyongyang's official website Uriminzokkiri warned that another war with South Korea would involve nuclear weapons. "Because of the South Koreans' reckless war policies, it is not about war or peace on the Korean peninsula but when the war will break out," the website said in a posting dated Thursday. "If war breaks out, it will lead to nuclear warfare and not be limited to the Korean peninsula." The North frequently claims nuclear war is imminent. But conventional forces are on high alert after last month's shelling. Pyongyang's disclosure last month of an apparently working uranium enrichment plant - a potential new source of bomb-making material - also heightened regional security fears. Prominent US politician Bill Richardson, a veteran troubleshooter on North Korea, is paying a private visit to Pyongyang to try to ease tensions. And the US envoy to stalled six-party talks on the North's nuclear disarmament, Sung Kim, held talks in Seoul on Friday with his South Korean counterpart, Wi Sung-Lac.

Guess what, no big queues for the loos

Camille Manley Camperdown Portable urinals were used in Bradfield Park at the start of the 2009 Sydney Marathon, with singular success. They are a splendid idea to literally relieve pressure and facilitate flow and motion. After all, there's nothing worse than to join a queue at a portaloo just for a "number 1" only to find the person ahead/inside was there for a "number 2"! City to Surf organisers please take note. Edward Loong Milsons Point Well done to the City of Sydney council for trialling the new portable urinals. I saw these in action last year in Paris at the Vendanges de Montmartre, even tried one myself. There were large crowds, not many portable toilets and a couple of these. Guess what, no big queues for the loos. I commented at the time that they should be a part of every music and outdoor event. They will take the pressure off. Ross Mayberry Mudgee Perhaps they should put ''temporary public urinal'' along the Corso at Manly and inform rugby league players that it's there. They'd then be allowed to piddle in public and not get in trouble. Michael Deeth Como West Umm, where do I sit? Amanda Lyons DarlinghurstFamilies in crisis The story in today's Herald is sad in that it condemns all men to changes in family law as a result of the actions of one, although sadly it's not only men who murder their children (''She once escaped a killer - under today's laws she would still be trapped,'' April 7). The proposed changes to the Family Law Act will bring back the behaviour that I and other fathers experienced when I went through my divorce in 2001. At that time the law encouraged mothers to maximise their income from child support and Centrelink by minimising the time the father was given access to his children. I am a good father and I love my children. Why should I be condemned by the actions of Rosetta Stone Arabic others? The presumption of shared care is fair for all. Name withheld Helen Cummings is correct in highlighting the need for amendments to the Family Law Act. My ex partner, a respected professional man who was emotionally abusive, used the Family Law Act to "grasp shared care (in our case custody) as a weapon to use against" me. While the four-year legal battle took place, our son was shuttled between the two of us in a decision made by the court in "the child's best interests". The process left me and my son emotionally drained, not to mention the prohibitive financial cost that caused hardship to me but not to the professional father. Since the conclusion of the custody case, three years, where I was awarded full custody, there has been no contact from the father but, thanks to the Family Law Act, the consequences are long lasting and permanent. Name withheld What about the husbands? There are many independent studies out there from Europe and America showing that the incidence of wives abusing their husbands is almost on par with the reverse situation. I have been physically and verbally abused by my wife and it only stopped when I got police intervention. Most of the time she attacked me because I was protecting the children against her and her outbursts and drew her attention away from them, otherwise she would have been physically and verbally attacking them. But with the focus on the women being the victim, I did not know where to go and what to do as there is very little out there for men. Finally my family assisted me. If the government is looking into things, they should do it on an even basis and put the same amount of resources out there for men in similar circumstances.

Summit urges ramping up of Asian tongues

All school students will have to learn Asian languages if delegates to the 2020 ideas summit have their way. In the final summit statement, issued on Sunday night, delegates to the national security and future prosperity stream called for a radical ramping up of language skills. Foreign Minister Stephen Smith declared the goal "a most important thing". Advertisement: Story continues below "We have to make Australia's understanding of Asian literacy and Asian culture almost second nature to us," Mr Smith said. "This is a most important thing we can do, not just from an international relations point of view but also from our young schoolchildren's point of view." The group has asked for the government to research how many people have a second language. International relations expert and section co-chair Michael Wesley said many ideas suggested by the security group focused on developing multilateral relationships both regionally and globally Rosetta Stone Greek- a goal already firmly backed by the government. "The second most passionate issue, I guess, was for closer economic and political integration with the Pacific," Prof Wesley said. He called for "partnerships of development" to achieve growth in struggling Pacific island nations. The difficult question of labour mobility across national borders in the Pacific also was raised although no firm ideas were included in the final statement. Other more obvious national security issues were discussed including the Australia-US alliance with the delegates calling for a three-yearly report card on the relationship's health. Prof Wesley also raised the possibility of building study centres to focus on Australia's relationships with the US, China, Japan and India - the four relationships will most likely be the nation's most important by 2020. On yet another front the group called for the establishment of "a high level advisory council comprised of business, academic and scientific leaders to advise on emerging food, water and energy security challenges. "The role of such a body would include advice on responding to security challenges such as pandemics, energy security, transnational crime, people trafficking and climate change."

Last Laugh blog: End-of-the-week funnies May 21

It's a new Friday and a new look for the Last Laugh blog. I hope you like it, despite the scarily close-up photo above. Also, a welcome to any new readers from around the country. And now, to fall into the web's funnies like so much space junk crashing into the ocean. 1. This is, quite simply, the coolest little film I've seen in a long, long time. Particularly since I was a C64 nerd growing up. Behold, Pixels by Patrick Jean. Advertisement: Story continues below 2. You know that sound effects guy from Hey Hey? Murray? Now you to can pepper your own conversations with amusing sound effects and catchphrases. 3. If you have a spare minutes, enjoy 160 of the greatest Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes of all time. These are from Arnie films, so naturally they come with a warning about bad language and violence. 4. Continuing the 'shreds' theme from a while back, someone's given the treatment to the 'Trololololo' guy. So stupid, so funny. Worth Rosetta Stone staying to the end. Incidentally, this Russian news program has tracked down Mr Trololo (Eduard Khil). It's all in Russian, but the now-elderly Khil does give the song a bit of a whirl for the interviewer. 5. Then I began to suspect the guy with the mustache was Jon 'Napoleon Dynamite' Heder. I was wrong on the first count, not sure about the second. Thanks to Helen, Graham and Ross for contributing to this week's edition! Coming to the aid of the search party

There is a definite logic to getting your company its critical share of search-engine visibility, writes Nick Miller. JUSTIN PARFITT would gladly pay to see the words "speed dating" in this sentence. Or rather, the Fast Impressions CEO would count his lucky stars (and soaring online visitors) if the words were a direct link to his website from Fairfax Digital. Advertisement: Story continues below A link from a leading media website is powerful voodoo in the dark art of SEO - search-engine optimisation. The internet offers hundreds of options to the lovelorn. But how does a business get noticed online? When a lonely heart goes to Google (or Yahoo or NineMSN), Fast Impressions wants to stand out among the hundreds of results that search engines deliver. When Mr Parfitt set up his website, he decided search-engine visibility was critical. "Google is used by something like 85 per cent of internet users, so we knew we needed to be in either the first or second position on any relevant keyword (search)," Mr Parfitt says. "Of course, for us the really major keyword (search term) was 'speed dating'." Google's Adwords system (or the Yahoo! and Sensis equivalents) sell prominent spots on the sponsored links displayed next to search results - but costs can soar if keywords are highly sought after. Fast Impressions, which turns over $1.5 million a year, pays $7000-$9000 a month to ensure its standout Adwords position. But the best spot for customer recognition is at the top of the first page of natural search results: free advertising on the internet's most-viewed billboard. Research by US web design expert Jakob Nielsen shows the snobbery of search. Internet users concentrate almost exclusively on the first two natural search results. After the top five, the rest may as well not be there (see breakout, right). "It's striking Rosetta Stone Hindi how little users read on the search engine results pages: just a few words read and bang, they click," Mr Nielsen says. Mr Parfitt noticed the same thing empirically with Fast Impressions. "If you're in the top two spots, you're OK - but if you're beyond the top three you're pretty much stuffed, people won't bother with you at all." So he started looking for advice on boosting and maintaining his Google rank - and soon realised he was not alone. As companies increasingly crave search-engine visibility, a whole industry is growing up around serving their needs. One member of that industry is Tom Petryshen, CEO of Amplify. "At the higher management level, CEOs are starting to ask what is this doing for us?" Mr Petryshen says. "A lot of (businesses) have paid a motsa for it through an agency or inhouse. The next stage is thinking about how to get traffic there. For a lot of companies it's a huge realisation that doesn't come until after the website is developed." Typically clients start with paid search because it's familiar. But Mr Petryshen introduces them to tracking tools that reveal how many visitors are coming from natural search. "When we start to look at the optimisation side it's like someone turned a light on for them," Mr Petryshen says. Optimisation is part common sense, part voodoo. Google's results are ranked in order according to the arcane PageRank algorithm, which essentially judges a website by the quality of other sites that link to it. But content is just as important. As Google's spiders crawl through cyberspace, they break websites down to keywords that can be matched with a search.

Demons to go harder at Dons

MELBOURNE coach Dean Bailey has demanded more aggression fromhis bottom-of-the-ladder side and made six changes in a bid toimprove after last week's capitulation against Collingwood. Essendon, meanwhile, regains 500 games worth of experiencethrough the returns of full-back Dustin Fletcher and midfieldersAndrew Welsh and Jason Winderlich. Liam Jurrah will make his debut against the Dons at EtihadStadium tonight, while Nathan Jones and Matthew Warnock have bothbeen forced out with illness. Advertisement: Story continues below Mark Jamar (quad) and skipper James McDonald (knee) were bothcasualties from the 66-point loss to the Magpies, and Daniel Belland Addam Maric were both omitted. The other inclusions are Brad Miller, Clint Bartram, JamieBennell, Neville Jetta and Stefan Martin. Bailey said his players were still haunted by their miserablefirst quarter in the Queen's Birthday game at the MCG and expectsthe side to "really fight hard" tonight. He said Jurrah, from Yuendumu near Alice Springs, was one of theseason's "great stories" and the -year-old's inclusion shouldhelp reinvigorate the forward line where No. 1 draft pick,Jack Watts, Canada Goose jackets will also play a role in just his second game. "There is pressure on Liam to perform," Bailey said. "He'srepresenting a very proud group of people and indigenous people inthe middle of Australia. "It's a great story, yes, and his form at Casey (in the VFL) inthe last two weeks has been good and he's shown some really goodsigns at training, so the players are excited for him." The quietly spoken, 188centimetre forward has kicked 11 goals inthe VFL in the past three weeks. "Even though he might not say much, hopefully we'll see a bit ofspeed and excitement," Bailey said. He said assistant coach Josh Mahoney told Jurrah, whose firstlanguage is not English, he had been named. "Josh has worked pretty closely with Liam (and) I think Liamwould've nodded his head and said 'good', that would've been itfrom Liam." Welsh has not played since fracturing his leg and dislocating anankle in a pre-season intra-club game. The 26-year-old returns with defender Fletcher and Winderlich, while Bachar Houli (virus), Jay Neagle and David Zaharakis (bothomitted) are missing from the side that lost to Adelaide in round11. Welsh feared he would miss the season, but yesterday said "a lotof hard work" running laps by himself and long sessions in thepool, had aided his recovery. "I was in here (at the club) every day getting physio, doingrehab work, to give myself the chance to get back as quick as Ihave," he said. After a couple of games in the VFL he said he was nervous aboutreturning, but looking forward to breaking back into the Bombers'midfield.

The room was a virtual museum

But he was also quick to point out that Mr Bush refused to fund the initiative. "Sadly," he said in 07, "President Bush has yet to learn his lesson on leaving no child behind." In , he won approval of, and praised Mr Bush for signing legislation giving students easier access to college loans. At the same time, he ripped into Mr Bush for his management of the economy. "The president continues to bail out Wall Street and help the oil industry reap even larger profits, while blocking needed relief for the American people," Senator Kennedy said. He made that statement in late April. On May 17, he was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital after suffering a seizure and was found to have a malignant brain tumour. A few days later, Senator Kennedy, his wife and their dogs were sailing in his -metre schooner on Nantucket Sound. That's the Senator Kennedy his friends and colleagues remember. He was a survivor, one who would read the Hotline political briefing to see what jokes Jay Leno had made at his expense, then shrug. He was a regular guy, happily married since 1992 to his second wife, Vicki Reggie; the cheery fellow who would walk around the Capitol with his Portuguese water dog, Splash, or who dressed up at a Christmas party as Barney the dinosaur. He was the happy warrior, rising from his radiation and chemotherapy in August to deliver a spirited speech for Barack Obama Rosetta Stone Spanish Spain at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. And he was beloved by his peers in public life as few ever are. Even the Queen acknowledged his special role on history's stage when she made him an honorary knight of the British Empire in early March . Most notably, he was the last Kennedy warrior, the brother who never gave up. Maybe the signature Kennedy moment in recent years came in May 1999, a month after students killed their classmates at Colorado's Columbine High School. Senator Kennedy had been fighting for restrictions on guns for more than 30 years. In 1968, the year his brother Robert was killed, Congress placed curbs on handguns but not rifles or shotguns and, in 1994, Democrats muscled an assault weapons ban into law. On May , 1999, the Senate approved restrictions on gun shows - by one vote. Not a huge victory, but a win for the cause. Senator Kennedy sat in his private third-floor Capitol office, one with no nameplate on the door. The room was a virtual museum. There was a rocking chair once made for his brother, the president. His father's desk sat nearby. There was a black and white photo of Bobby with one of his children, and a huge painting of Joe jnr, his oldest brother, killed in World War II. Kennedy spoke a bit about his gun-show victory, saying he won because "the fear has become broader and more understandable" following Columbine. There was no gloating, no victory celebration. He knew that success in politics is achieved incrementally and humbly. He offered few thoughts; mostly he just smiled. The hope still lives, his body language said, and the dream will never die.

Homosexuality and the Bible

Given the ongoing debate about same-sex marriage, it is time I looked at the two Testaments to remind myself why belief is so hard for me to embrace. The issue is not just the substance of the rules but the incorrigible resistance of biblical injunctions to change. Centuries may come and go but some of these rules are indelibly etched in the moral framework of some faiths. However, as we shall see, it is true that if you want to move on from ancient prejudice there is some wriggle room in the interpretation of the Bible. The theology of homosexuality on a literal view of the words is simple it is ugly. The most notorious sections are the prohibitions in the third book of the bible, Leviticus, which contains the prohibition of a man lying with another as an abomination punishable by death (Leviticus :13). Before that, in Genesis, is the story of the destruction of the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah from which the term ''sodomy'' is derived. There is no mention of lesbianism, which may be presumed by logical extension to be embraced by the same or similar prohibitions. The Old Testament is such a venerable document that it is possible for Christians to ignore it, for St Paul taught that the creation of a new law renders the previous law invalid. However, St Paul's letters to the Romans also contain a prohibition on homosexuality (Romans 1:26-). Thus theologians have many Rosetta Stone Latin America Spanish plainly worded prohibitions to rely on if they want to condemn homosexuality. Advertisement: Story continues below However, there are other texts, which are, to say the least, ambiguous. These muddy the theological waters. In the Old Testament, the story of Jonathon, Son of King Saul, and David the slayer of Goliath is clearly homoerotic, ''Jonathan was deeply attracted to David, and Jonathan loved him as himself''. Saul, suspecting love was afoot, kept David out of the family home. Saul displayed the traditional antagonism to a son and his lover when his son Jonathon came out. Later it says Jonathon and David ''kissed each other, and wept with each other''. This story could be relied upon to provide either another interpretation or at least some ambiguity on the prohibition. Similarly one could argue that nowhere in the Gospels does Jesus condemn homosexuality. Perhaps Jesus was not concerned about it? This argument is not strong for Jesus does not mention a range of other sins so his pronouncements on sin could not be assumed to be exhaustive. Some change is afoot. One can use some of the biblical inconsistencies so that pragmatic believers can overcome the apparently clear prohibitions of the text. The existence of contradictory biblical positions makes textual pragmatism unavoidable. This textual pragmatism is explored by the Christian author, Walter Wink. Wink lists 14 examples of sexual mores in scripture that are no longer considered normative, or behaviour that ought to occur. Such examples include stoning adulterers, polygamy, prohibiting sexual intercourse during menstruation (although still observed by some Orthodox Jews) and the prohibition of divorce by Jesus (Mark 10:1-) (although still observed by Catholicism and others). Wink argues that Jesus was not only silent on homosexuality, but he was noted for embracing marginalised groups such as lepers.

From Bach to the Duke, with a bit of Jimi thrown in

Violinist Nigel Kennedy sees no boundaries in music, writes Steve Meacham. Few people see Duke Ellington as a latter-day Johann Sebastian Bach. Fewer still mention the name of guitar guru Jimi Hendrix inthe same company as those two. But then, Nigel Kennedy - ''the ageing punk of classical music''or ''bad boy of the violin'', as he's often labelled - has made acareer out of blurring the edges between musical genres. Years ago, aged 16, he walked onto the stage of Carnegie Hall as a guest ofjazz virtuoso Stephane Grappelli, earning the wrath of hisJuilliard School tutors and scuppering an almost-signed recordingcontract with CBS. Today, at 53, he's unmistakably middle-aged but retains the sameenthusiasms and rebellious streak of his youth. Advertisement: Story continues below We're sitting in a cafe in Avalon on a summer's afternoon, closeto the holiday home he is renting at Whale Beach. The venue was hischoice and his directions are characteristically vague (''the onenext to the bottle shop on the corner''). Knowing the cafe, I'd been slightly nervous. On Fridayafternoons, it's a place parents and school kids gather over hotchocolates and sav blanc. Yet every interview with the famouslycoiffured maestro mentions his hard-drinking habits andexpletive-strewn conversation. Did Avalon know what it was infor? Certainly there's no mistaking the distinguished violinist as hecrosses the road. He's dressed in an Aston Villa shirt thatapparently once belonged to his favourite player before he took apair of scissors to it, adapting it for Australian casual wear. It's an ensemble which confirms the common prejudice aboutKennedy: that his talent as a musician is equalled by his talentfor self-promotion. Interviewers usually refer to his ''mockney''accent and propensity for hippie phrases. Some critics argue it'sall fake, Rosetta Stone that his longevity is largely due to a carefullyconstructed public image - foul-mouthed, anti-establishment enfantterrible - which is now well past its use-by date. But, as he sits down and introduces himself, he is charmpersonified. And before the end of an hour-long interview, he seemsless a Johnny Rotten-type going through the punk motions than aclassical version of Ozzy Osbourne: a genuinely affable, shamboliceccentric. Would he like a beer? ''Actually, I'm being very well-behaved atthe moment,'' he says, turning to the young waitress. ''Have yougot any teas? Can I have two teas? That would be brilliant, man. Agreen tea and an Irish breakfast.'' The main reason Kennedy is here is to perform his Bach Meets Ellington show with the Sydney Symphony at the Opera House. As awarm-up, he's also performing his own jazz-influencedinterpretation of Jimi Hendrix classics at the Basement. Not many musicians would attempt three such different composersat once. Why put Bach and Ellington on the same bill? ''It reflectsmy background and what I like in music,'' Kennedy explains. ''Bothwere great harmonic masters who wrote beautifully. I've recordedthe Bach part of the show before, but I'm altering it here. Thejazz musicians are going to provide some improvisational insightinto the Bach, which is not strange, because the baroque period wasone of the great periods of musical improvisation. ''Then, for the Ellington, I've written all the big band shitfor the strings to play.

The World's Most Famous Immigrant Cities

Dubai United Arab Emirates. Dubai in the middle east of UAE, it can be called the most famous immigrants city. The census in 2006 has shown that 100million of the city's population are immigrates. The main source of immigrates of this city are people from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Besides, most of immigrates are from West countries. The reason why Dubai has today's splendid achievements is the majority of immigrates.Miami. It will be strange if there is none of American's city in this list. Miami has numbered among this list. Most of immigrates in Miami are those people who speak Spanish. Such as, Nicaragua, Cuba, which makes Miami have some Latin flavor. And in Miami, Spanish is used as English.Toronto, Canada. Almost half of Toronto's people were born in foreign country. Recent years, Toronto's government has taken some measure to attract the young immigrates in order to ease the potential problem about labor force aging. This is the most diversity city in the world. In addition, it is also said to be the safest city in the world.Amsterdam. Liberalism and leisure attitude is the biggest characteristic of Amsterdam. It is the right reason Rosetta Stone Spain Spanish why so many people come here. The population of this city is 750,000, and the native population only takes up 450,000. They're mostly related to the advantages, however

Your choice of medical transcriptionist school makes a big difference at the start of your career. It makes it easier or harder to get that first job. Once you've shown your skill as a transcriptionist it makes less difference, but it's very important up until then. One of the things you'll want to consider is whether to attend an online medical transcriptionist school or a local medical transcription school, such as at a community college. Your decision should be based both on your best learning style and the quality of schools available to you.Online Medical Transcriptionist School AdvantagesLearning through an online school has a lot of advantages. You usually have more flexibility in when you do your studies, for example. They're often but not always self paced, so it all works with you. You don't have to worry so much about classes interfering with your current routine. Scheduling may be one of the biggest barriers to taking a course otherwise, especially if you work an irregular schedule. That's not a problem when you're self paced.Online education also helps you get practice for when you're really working as a medical transcriptionist. Many transcriptionists work from home, and so the online course is more similar to that. You'll get used to not having someone right in the same building available to answer your questions, and learn how to cope with that. You'll learn to deal with the interruptions that are inherent to working from home. Not having to deal with driving to school, fighting for parking and finding childcare for any kids you may have can be a wonderful advantage. These can be stressful, and childcare in particular may be expensive.Online Medical Transcriptionist School DisadvantagesThere are disadvantages, of course. That face to face time has a lot of value for many students. You may find that the lecture format is more suited to your learning style than an online course or reading through textbooks.Local Medical Transcription School DisadvantagesAttending school in person may be the way most people go to school now, but it's not perfect for every student, every subject or every situation. Page and Dreja began putting a new line-up together

Led Zeppelin was an English rock band, and is one of the most successful and influential groups in popular music history. Led Zeppelin consisted of four men: Jimmy Page (guitar), Robert Plant (lead vocals, harmonica), John Bonham (drums), and John Paul Jones (bass guitar and keyboards).Formed in 1968, Led Zeppelin were innovators who never lost mainstream appeal. While the band is perhaps best known as pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, they also drew inspiration from many other musical genres, including blues, rockabilly, reggae, soul, funk, jazz, Celtic, Indian, Arabic, folk, pop, Latin and country.Over 25 years after disbanding in response to drummer John Bonham's death in 1980, Led Zeppelin continue to be held in high regard for their artistic achievements, commercial success, and broad influence. To date, the group is reported to have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, including 109.5 million sales in the United States.History:The early days (1968-1970)In 1968, while bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones still dominated the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, newer, heavier styles of rock and roll were being played by groups like The Who, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream. In that same year, a new British band, Led Zeppelin, began to form their own distinctly thunderous sound, and would play a critical role in the creation of a new musical genre, hard rock. The formation/The New YardbirdsThe beginnings of Led Zeppelin can be traced to Jimmy Page, who had joined the rock band The Yardbirds in 1966, to play bass guitar after bassist Paul Samwell-Smith quit the group. Shortly thereafter, Page switched from bass to lead guitar creating a lineup that featured both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck playing dual lead (Chris Dreja moved from rhythm guitar to take over on bass). Following the departure of Jeff Beck in October 1966, The Yardbirds, tired from constant touring and recording, were beginning to wind down. Page discussed forming a supergroup with himself and Beck on guitar Rosetta Stone Japanese, and The Who's Keith Moon and John Entwistle on drums and bass, respectively. Vocalists Donovan, Steve Winwood and Steve Marriott were also considered for the project. The group never formed, although Page, Beck and Moon did record a song together in 1966, "Beck's Bolero", which is featured on Beck's 1968 album, Truth. The recording session also included bassist John Paul Jones, who told Page that he would be interested in collaborating with him on future projects. The Yardbirds played their final gig in July 1968, after which vocalist Keith Relf and drummer Jim McCarty left the band, wishing to pursue a shared interest in folk music. However, The Yardbirds were still committed to perform several concerts in Scandinavia, so McCarty and Relf authorised Page and Dreja to use the Yardbirds name to fulfil the band's obligations. Page and Dreja began putting a new line-up together. Page's first choice for lead singer, Terry Reid, declined the offer, but suggested a singer he knew of who played on the Birmingham scene called Robert Plant. Plant accepted the position, and also recommended John Bonham from nearby Redditch who also played regularly in Birmingham bands. Plant and Bonham had recently played in the Band of Joy together. When Dreja opted out of the project to become a photographer (he would later take the photograph that appeared on the back of Led Zeppelin's debut album), John Paul Jones contacted Page about the empty position. Page, being familiar with his credentials, gladly accepted him as the band's new bassist. The band completed the Scandinavian tour as the New Yardbirds.

The Wedding Night Is Not The Same For Everyone

Weddings are occasions of lasting traditions and rituals. All over the world, different beliefs, culture and history have affected this memorable event. It is common knowledge that wedding ceremonies are different all over the world, but did you know that the diversity extends even on the wedding night? Read this to know the interesting activities that couples, families and friends do before letting the newlyweds reach a night of wedding bliss! It is customary in an American wedding for the bride and groom to hop into a get away car with tin cans attached to the rear of the car, off to their secret honeymoon, immediately after the wedding. Did you know that this rooted from escaping a Celtic wedding night tradition? In Gaelic cultures, it was a tradition for friends and family of the couple to mess with the couples wedding night. In the olden days, when couples spend their wedding night in a barn, girl friends of the bride would dress her for bed and ask each of the male guests to kiss her good night. The friends would do other things to prevent the groom from seeing her new wife. Even if the couple finally comes together, they would disturb the union by making noise outside the barn and even peep into the couple, while drinking the night away. The couple waits for everyone to get too drunk to eventually leave them alone. This kind of prank is something that newly weds want to get away from, thus, they keep their honeymoon destination a secret and speed away after the wedding. More Celtic wedding night ritual come from Scotland: sleeping in Rosetta Stone the barn on the first night, sprinkling water on the marriage bed for luck and staying for a week with the parents of the bride before moving into the home of the newlyweds. The Germans and the French do a similar tradition of disturbing the wedding night, called Chiverie, known in the US as Shivaree. They make noise outside the place where the couple spends their first night together. Some even play around with the room where they will stay, like put plenty of balloons, spread food all over the bed, and hide alarm clock everywhere, just for fun.The Romans believed that it was bad fortune when the bride stumbles when entering the newlywed home for the first time. Thus, after the wedding, male friends of the couple would carry her over the doorstep. At present, the groom is expected to do the job himself. In Benin, western Africa, they value virginity. The mother of the bride rewards her with cash if she is a virgin at their wedding night! In the morning, the sheets that the couples used are inspected for bloodstains. Some mothers even fly the flag out the window, showing off the bloodstained nightgown of their daughter. Seriously! For the Chinese, at the night of the wedding, candles designed with a phoenix and a dragon is lit to drive the evil spirit away. The newlyweds will drink wine from goblets tied together with a red ribbon, while arms intertwined. Then the bride will be given half-raw dumplings, which symbolize prosperity.Marquesasian (from Polynesia) brides have a notable wedding night ritual: they are expected to have sex with all the male guests and then saving the groom for last. Now that can make your wedding night extremely unforgettable!

Reasons Why You Really Should Have A DVD Produced Of Your Wedding Day?

There are a number of reasons why it is a good idea to have a DVD made of your wedding day. Mostly, it comes down to this - your wedding day will utterly fly by, and it can be difficult to remember detailed things that happened in fine detail. While you remember the overall feeling of the day, along with the major points of the day, much of the rest of it will fast become a blur as you try to remember back to what happened. A wedding DVD is a good way to have some of those easier to forget moments captured on film to look back on in the future. In addition, a DVD of your wedding day is a amazing way to look back on the day and remember the emotions, feelings, vows, smiles, tears, etc. that were all a part of the day. It's a great way to relive the day. While pictures are a great and necessary part of your wedding day, the best and clearest memories of your day will likely come from re-watching your wedding DVD. A great tradition to begin could be watching your wedding DVD on each wedding anniversary - it's a amazing way to look back on the day, and it is a fantastic way to remind yourselves of the vows you took that day. What are some of the most important things to have captured on your wedding video? That really depends on each person. Of course, have the entire ceremony taped - there are too many amusing moments during the service to skip out on this part. In addition, consider having at least highlights from the reception taped - things like speeches and/or toasts, your first dance, etc. Some people also choose to have interviews done, where guests can come up to the videographer and leave comments of encouragement and congrats for the couple. All in all, having a DVD made of your wedding day is an essential way to remember some of the biggest and best moments from that all critical day in your lives, especially when you think that given all the time, money and hard work that went into making your wedding day one of the most enchanting days of your life, it just makes sense to have a good recording Rosetta Stone Spain Spanish available, so you can look back on it in the years to come.Even the parts of the video that seem unremarkable to you now will probably be charming in the future, as you look back with fun at the fashions and hairstyles of our time, and marvel at how much younger everybody used to look. Our memories can be undependable. No matter how much we try to commit something to mind, as years go by we forget the details and invent new ones without even being aware that we're doing it. If you've ever looked back at your teenage diary, you've probably been shocked to see how little you remembered, and how much your memory differed from how things really happened. A DVD of your wedding day is like opening up a window into your past, you can see things just as they really happened. You can relive listening to the best man's speech, and watching your older relatives on the dance floor. (Plus, you can fast forward through any dreary or unpleasant parts. If only all of like worked like that!) Time moves so quickly. You're not really paying attention, and the next thing you know, years have passed. A wedding DVD lets you freeze a happy time in your life, to take out and look at whenever you need it, beacuse every human being lives once and dies once and ff all the important events taking place in life, marriage is one of the most significant and sentimental events.Your wedding day is the day when you become one with your soul mate. It is the day you find a partner to spend the rest of your life with. It is the moment when a man and woman pledge to be faithful to each other, love absolutely and stand by each other's side in both good and bad times. Wedding is not just the union of two bodies. It is the coming together of two hearts and minds with different ideas, but willing to struggle and achieve one beautiful goal. The goal of leading a very contented married life with lots of fun and quality time among relatives and kids. So this day has to be very special.
